New Build Site
Project summary
The clients had recently moved into a large new build house with a sizeable outside space which they wanted a complete design for.
It was important to create areas at more manageable scales and spaces for their gardening and vegetable-growing passions.
In the absence of an existing garden, they required significant hard-landscaping plans and construction detailing, as well as a comprehensive planting plan.

Key points
The design creates a series of large “rooms” and uses focal points, including trees, archways and statues to lead the eye and encourage exploration.
A stately water feature and herbaceous garden form the centre of the rear garden, surrounded by an entertaining space, vegetable garden and lawn.
The front of the property is less formal. A swale separates the wildflower meadow and rambling orchard from the drive, adding sustainable drainage and an opportunity for a fun railway-sleeper footbridge.
