Small Family Garden
Project summary
The client in this case wanted a tasteful space where her children could play and included a range of attractive planting.
Practicality and safety were important, as was a design that suited her limited time for maintenance.
We created hard-landscaping, planting, lighting and drainage plans to meet this brief and create a space the whole family could enjoy.

Key points
We created a design of interlocking circles to soften the feel of the irregular plot. Sandstone was used for the paths with reclaimed bricks and a false mirror arch to add a sense of timelessness and space.
Tasteful practicality is central to the design, which incorporates a discreet shed, sandpit and space for drying clothes. The a hard-wearing lawn, improved drainage and patio space prevents mud being brought inside.
Raised beds were created to protect planting from errant footballs and improve drainage. Plants were selected to be long-flowering and pollinator friendly, complementing the bug hotel and child-proof water feature.
